Your impact as an Underwriting Specialist I

Our Underwriting Specialist will be responsible for rating, reviewing and underwriting dental professional liability coverage. This position includes underwriting review and rating of sophisticated new and renewal risks within the Affinity Healthcare Dental Program, with a focus on the Dentist’s Advantage brokered business and Dental Service Organizations. The position requires extensive review and analysis of submissions, capturing data and assessing risk against established management liability underwriting guidelines.

Job Responsibilities:

+ Responsible for supporting the Dentist’s Advantage broker business

+ Will also support small Dental Service Organizations (DSOs)

+ Underwriting of new accounts, managing renewals and processing endorsements.

+ Requires comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Dental underwriting guidelines and rating rules

+ Requires interaction with brokers, DSO clients, and internal Sales team

+ Acts as primary point of contact for our brokers, including responding to email inquiries

+ Handles all loss run requests

+ Assists with new business during peak periods by providing pricing estimates

+ Generate and send Certificates of Insurance to brokers/clients

+ Interface with Accounting for payment processing

+ Process manual invoices as needed

+ Property & Casualty license preferred - must be acquired within three months of hire date.

Preferred Skills:

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills and property & casualty insurance carrier underwriting experience.

+ Ability to multi-task.

+ Strong analytical skills and familiarity in working with internal and external underwriting systems and tools.

+ Self-motivated, highly organized and detail oriented.

+ Experience with MS Office suite products.

Education:

+ College degree in relevant field, or equivalent work experience.

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position is $42,000 to $52,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.
