Job Description
The selected applicant will provide technical support of Communications-Electronics (C-E) equipment, systems, subsystems, and ancillaries in fixed/mobile communications facilities/platforms for the Department of Defense (DoD), US Special Operations Forces (SOF), and other government agencies as directed. Technical support services may include evaluation, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, installation, integration, and modification of C5ISR systems and equipment. Additional tasks would include assemble components and subassemblies following production drawings, fabricate cables, and install equipment into vehicles, boats, ships, or buildings. Travel to various US locations may be required, and periodic short-term (<30 days) travel to OCONUS locations may be required.
The hourly rate for this position is set by the Dept of Labor and is not negotiable. Current rate is $29.15/hr.
This position is based in Chesapeake, VA and there is no relocation assistance available for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to Chesapeake or surrounding areas.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
High school diploma and at least four years of related experience
Military communications or electronics training (Military Electronics class "A" school or equivalent)
Ability to read schematics and production drawings
Ability to travel within the United States and some limited foreign travel (up to 50%)
Familiarity with and use of hand tools and electronic test equipment
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Audio / Visual / Teleconferencing installation
Electronic Security Systems (ESS) Experience
Familiarity with military Tactical Communications
Familiarity with SOF Tactical Communications
Cableway training such as NAVSEA Cableway Certification
OSHA 10/30 hour course Maritime or General Industry
Fall Protection Training for working at height
Pay Information
This position is covered by a wage law called the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA). The wage range for this position is determined by the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor on a contract-by-contract basis.
