    Volunteers of America Delaware Valley is offering an exciting opportunity for emerging professionals to join our Behavioral Health & Reentry Services team as a Substance Use Counselor Intern. This role is designed for individuals who are actively pursuing their LCADC or CADC and are ready to gain hands-on experience in providing clinical care to individuals navigating substance use challenges.

     

    You’ll be part of a supportive treatment team, gaining supervised experience in assessment, treatment planning, counseling, and group facilitation, while building the foundation for a long-term career in substance use recovery and behavioral health.

    What You’ll Do:

    + Conduct assessments and help develop client-centered, recovery-oriented service plans

    + Provide supervised individual counseling and facilitate support groups and educational workshops

    + Track client progress and contribute to treatment planning and discharge coordination

    + Link clients with external support resources and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings

    + Document all services accurately in accordance with operational policies and funding requirements

    + Support treatment team functions and contribute to a positive, recovery-focused environment

    + Receive structured feedback and participate in on-the-job training and professional development

    What You Need:

    + Enrollment in a course of study leading to CADC or LCADC certification

    + Commitment to making consistent progress toward certification with supervisor oversight

    + Basic knowledge of addictive behaviors, human behavior, and group dynamics

    + Strong written and verbal communication skills

    + Ability to work with diverse populations in a respectful and professional manner

    + Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed

    + Basic computer skills

    + Valid driver’s license and ability to meet VOA driver standards

    + Ability to pass criminal background and drug screening

    + Bilingual fluency is a plus
