ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The RiseBoro of Home Delivered Meals (HDML)/Meals-on-Wheels program provides thousands of meals daily to various communities in Brooklyn, NY. Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director and/or Director, the Replacement Deliverer of HDML is responsible for the daily delivery of meals to homebound clients. Additionally, the Replacement Deliverer is required to maintain accurate delivery records and assist with assigned program areas as needed. Specific duties and responsibilities include:
• Packing of home-delivered meals
• Deliver packed food to homebound clients and food satellites including holiday and or emergency food packages
• Report to the coordinator any difficulty with meal delivery or change in client status as well as inability to deliver
• Maintain an accurate daily log of meals delivered and contributions collected
• Deliver program material and information to homebound clients
• Move, unpack, and store food and supplies as required
• Assist in scheduling meal delivery to minimize time and distance between delivery points
• Assist with Kitchen Aide responsibilities
• Assist with custodial duties at senior centers in case of program emergency
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of congregate meals to other program sites if needed
• When necessary pick up/ drop off interoffice mail
• Perform duties as required by the supervisor of the site
COMPETENCIES
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to walk long distances and climb stairs
• Able to lift objects weighing a minimum of 25 pounds
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
• Some knowledge of the area and/or ability to read maps and follow directions
• Some knowledge of and a genuine concern for the physical, mental and emotional needs of older persons
• Commitment to RiseBoro’s mission, vision, and values
• Ability to understand the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities
• Have a commitment to supporting communities who have experienced systemic oppression and bias (e.g. people of color, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, justice involved persons, etc.)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Some completed High School or equivalent coursework required; High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
