    Budget Title: Lead Programmer-Analyst (SL-3)

     

    Salary: Commensurate with experience

     

    Binghamton University's Information Technology Services is seeking an experienced, engaging, and collaborative individual to join our Technical Support team that provides hardware, software, and peripheral support to the Binghamton University community.

     

    The Technical Support Analyst must be able to work independent of direct supervision with a diverse, cross-functional group of professionals, faculty, and students to support all in the pursuit of academic excellence within a premier University environment. The Technical Support Analyst reports to the Manager of the Main Campus Technical Support Team, works closely with members of Technology Support Services, staff members within Information Technology Services (ITS), external vendors, and other groups.

    The Technical Support Analyst will:

    + Provide hardware and software support for university-owned devices, including computers, mobile devices, printers, copiers, and peripherals.

    + Diagnose and resolve basic and complex technical issues, and escalate unresolved problems to other groups within ITS when appropriate.

    + Install, configure, upgrade, and troubleshoot Windows and macOS systems.

    + Assist with data transfers, network drive mapping and software installations.

    + Research, recommend and implement hardware and software solutions to meet user needs while ensuring compatibility with university systems.

    + Maintain thorough documentation of incidents, solutions, and best practices using the TeamDynamix ITSM system.

    + Use desktop management tools (e.g., JAMF, SCCM) to improve support efficiency and device management.

    + Stay up to date with emerging technologies relevant to university IT support.

    + Provide creative, flexible, and patient solutions to technical challenges.

    + Maintain data security and compliance with regulations such as FERPA and HIPAA.

    + Work a schedule that fluctuates based on the academic calendar to ensure appropriate coverage.

    + Be able to explain technical issues to both technical and non-technical users.

    Job Requirements:

    + Associate's degree or higher in a related field

    + One or more years of relevant professional providing hardware, software, and user assistance

    + Experience installing and supporting Windows or macOS

    + Excellent oral and written communication skills

    + Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 30 pounds, bending, kneeling, and working in small spaces

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's degree, or higher, in a related field

    + Two or more years of professional experience working in a large, complex organization

    + Experience diagnosing, repairing, and installing computer hardware

    + Relevant Apple, Dell, Microsoft, or HDI certifications

    + Experience supporting smartphones and tablets, including app installation and connectivity troubleshooting

    + Experience with higher education or research environments

    + Experience with desktop management tools (e.g., JAMF, SCCM)

    + Experience with ITSM tools (e.g., TeamDynamix)
