Summary:

Under the supervision of the Nurse Unit Manager or designee, the Unit Clerk is responsible for performing general receptionist and clerical duties on the unit. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Maintains confidentiality of all hospital/staff information. Assists in planning, organizing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating the activities occurring in the patient care department.

Responsibilities:

EDUCATION

+ High School or GED required

+ AAS Degree in Secretarial Science or Medical Office Assistant preferred

EXPERIENCE

+ Previous office with medical terminology or unit clerk experience preferred

+ Previous computer experience preferred

+ Medical terminology and computer experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

+ Basic computer skills

+ Strong written and verbal communication skills

+ Knowledge of medical terminology

+ Ability to relate well with other people

+ Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
