Job Description
This is a internship designed specifically for students who are currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program. Candidates who have already completed their bachelor’s degree or are enrolled in a master’s program will not be considered.
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic **Research Intern** to join the Cedars-Sinai Cancer Research Center for Health Equity (CRCHE), part of the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in scientific research and public health policy, while contributing to our mission of advancing cancer prevention and survivorship through innovative research and impactful community partnerships.
Position Details:
**Location:** Onsite at Cedars-Sinai with no hybrid or remote work options available at this time.
**Duration:** The internship is set to continue through the end of June, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and funding.
**Schedule:** This is a full-time internship requiring students to be available onsite.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Assist with various research projects related to cancer prevention, survivorship, and health equity.
+ Conduct policy reviews, policy advocacy, and implementation.
+ Participate in various forms of data collection, including observational environment studies, key informant interviews, and public interview surveys.
+ Contribute to discussions on research progress and findings.
+ Attend and support local LGBTQ+ events and advocacy day events in the South Bay of Los Angeles County and surrounding areas.
+ Support community outreach efforts focused on reducing tobacco-related health disparities, particularly in the LGBTQ+ community.
+ Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines.
+ Engage in training on study and survey design, community event planning, resource development, and presentation skills.
Qualifications

Qualifications:
+ Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program (candidates with a completed Bachelor’s degree or enrolled in a Master’s program will not be considered).
+ Must be 18 years of age or older.
+ Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
+ Must reside in the greater Los Angeles area or surrounding cities while conducting all activities related to the internship.
+ Reliable transportation is required as the intern will be traveling 1-2 times per week to Redondo Beach and/or Inglewood.
+ A strong interest in public health, LGBTQ+ health equity, cancer prevention, and community organizing is highly beneficial.
Desired Skills:
+ Strong interest in scientific research, public health policy, and LGBTQ+ health equity.
+ Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
+ Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
+ Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
+ Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
+ An interest in community outreach and engagement activities.
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain knowledge in the intersections of public health policy, LGBTQ+ health equity, and community organizing. Interns will work closely with the Quit Alliance Community Outreach and Engagement (COE) team, which aims to reduce tobacco-related health disparities among LGBTQ+ communities in Los Angeles County. The internship also includes opportunities to develop essential skills in research, policy advocacy, community engagement, and public health programming.
