Job Summary

As a Screed Operator, you will be responsible for operating the screed portion of an asphalt paver to lay hot mix asphalt to precise depths, widths, and grades. Your role is essential in ensuring the quality of the asphalt mat, maintaining accurate slopes, and achieving proper compaction to meet project specifications in public and heavy civil work.

Key Responsibilities

+ Operate the screed portion of an asphalt paver to accurately lay hot mix asphalt.

+ Adjust screed settings to maintain desired slope, depth, and compaction.

+ Monitor the quality, thickness, and surface finish of the asphalt mat.

+ Work closely with the paver operator and ground crew to ensure continuous and efficient paving operations.

+ Perform daily equipment inspections and carry out minor maintenance tasks.

+ Collaborate with your team to ensure smooth transitions between paving operations and maintain high standards of quality and safety.

Qualifications

+ Proven experience as a screed operator on highway, road, or commercial paving projects.

+ Strong understanding of paving equipment, grading, and the behavior of asphalt mix.

+ Ability to read and interpret job specifications, slopes, and string lines accurately.

+ Safety-focused, reliable, and able to work effectively in a team-driven environment.

+ CDL is a plus but not required.
