    Description

    We are offering a contract to permanent employment opportunity for a Sr. GL Accountant in Chicago. As a Sr. GL Accountant, you will play an integral role in maintaining the financial integrity of our operations. Your responsibilities will include managing the general ledger, reconciling accounts, and enhancing accounting policies and procedures, among other duties.

    Responsibilities:

    • Enhance and manage the general ledger, ensuring its accuracy and integrity

    • Assist in the preparation and posting of monthly journal entries, supported by thorough documentation

    • Handle the reconciliation of key balance sheet accounts, including cash, accrivals, intercompany, and fixed assets

    • Maintain the fixed assets subledger and manage the tracking of capital expenditures

    • Develop and manage schedules for prepaids, accruals, and other recurring entries

    • Collaborate with the Accounts Payable (AP) and payroll teams to ensure accurate postings and resolve any discrepancies

    • Support external audit activities by preparing schedules and maintaining comprehensive documentation

    • Ensure adherence to GAAP and strengthen internal controls

    • Improve accounting workflows, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for better efficiency and compliance

    • Perform variance (flux) analysis and assist with monthly financial reporting.

     

    Requirements • Applicant must hold a minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role as a Senior GL Accountant.

     

    • Proficiency in Account Reconciliation is a necessary skill for this role.

    • Familiarity with Balance Sheet Reconciliation is required.

    • The candidate should have experience in performing Bank Reconciliations.

    • Mastery of General Ledger tasks and related activities is essential.

    • Ability to record and manage Journal Entries is expected.

    • Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel for accounting tasks is required.

    • Experience in conducting Month End Close activities is a must.

    • Knowledge and hands-on experience with NetSuite software is necessary.
