    Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. is seeking a Traffic/Transportation Engineer-In-Training for the Austin, TX office.

    Responsibilities:

    Perform traffic analysis tasks from data collection, reporting analysis results and writing technical reports. Perform civil design calculations, sketches, drawings, technical comparisons and similar technical work as required by assignments. Maintain effective communication with project team members and with clients. Research transit, traffic analysis, traffic operations, traffic safety and intelligent transportation design. - work with city, state, county, and regional authority officials. Research design options and documents findings for project engineers and/or project managers. Assist with duties assigned by project engineers and/or project managers. Planning, budgeting, and executing traffic engineering projects. This covers a wide range of tasks such as traffic operational analysis, traffic microsimulation models, safety studies, signal design, ITS design, signing and marking, and constructing traffic control plans. Perform transportation/traffic engineering planning and design including leading project tasks. Perform civil design calculations, sketches, drawings, technical comparisons, and similar technical work as required by assignments. Develop solutions to complex problems that require a high degree of innovation and ingenuity. Demonstrate proficiency in design software (such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Openroads, etc.), traffic simulation software like Synchro, Vissim, and other office production software.

    REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a master's degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field. As an alternative, employer will accept a bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field and 1 year of work experience in the traffic engineering or a related occupation.

     

    SPECIFIC SKILLS: Interpreting traffic data, perform operational analysis, microsimulation models, civil design and safety studies. Software like AutoCAD, MicroStation, Openroads, and traffic simulation software like Synchro, Vissim. Technical communicating with clients, team members, and representatives of local, state, county, and regional authorities. Developing solutions to complex problems requiring a high degree of innovation and ingenuity. Conducting comprehensive research in transit systems, traffic patterns, operations, and safety. Engineer in Training Certificate (EIT) or ability to obtain it within 6 months of hire.
