Position Summary:
The Line Cook is responsible for the daily food prep – Rotation/putting away loads, and any additional tasks needed to provide the support needed in all our dining areas as well as catering functions and special event on a daily basis at St. John’s Meadows.
Responsibilities include:
+ Responsible for adhering to dietary standards in accordance with all State and Federal Regulations as well as New York State Department of Health Food Safety Codes
+ Follows established procedures for meal service, food preparation, food portioning, sanitation and safety.
+ Maintains open communication with co-workers to ensure that all foods are properly prepared and served (appearance and temperature).
+ Follows proper techniques of food handling, recipe following and proper food storage.
+ Complete all logs and documents required by the Executive Chef and or Sous Chef during daily Production.
+ Maintain a Clean and Sanitary Work Station throughout daily production.
+ Assist in pot, pan, dish, cutlery, and utensil washing as needed.
+ Work with the front of the house staff and management team regarding dining service needs and issues to be addressed and/or resolved immediately at any point of service
+ Assist the Executive Chef and Sous Chef with any and all tasks needed within the dining services department
Qualifications:
+ High School graduate or equivalent is required.
+ Servsafe Certified -Food Safety Preferred, but not required.
+ The ability to follow written and oral instructions in English, and be able to follow menus and recipes. Must be able to interact well with others and handle fast paced work . One to three years’ experience as a cook, preferably in an upscale restaurant, hotel, or retirement community or experience in the customer service industry, and work experience in food production. No professional certification required
Physical Requirements:
+ Standing for long periods of time, sitting, stooping, walking, bending, and heavy lifting (40-50 lbs.).
+ Utilizing cleaning agents, working with hot ovens, grease and steam, walking on wet surfaces, using kitchen knives, slicer and electric chopper.
