Responsibilities of Auto Body Shop Repair Technician:

• Examines buses to identify defects and/or damage, determines repairs required, and notifies Supervisor of needed repair.

• Fabricates, repairs, replaces, and paints body components and parts as required using all necessary tools; including, but not limited to: drill press, grinder, welder, spray gun and other metalworking tools and within the scheduled amount of time and ensuring efficient, safe, and economical utilization of facilities, tools, components, and consumables, while ensuring customer satisfaction levels and company objectives are achieved.

• Prepares and provides estimates for cost of repairs using estimating software.

• Reads and understands bus orders, installing body and structural options according to customer specifications and within the scheduled amount of time.

• Assists Body Shop Team and larger Service Teams by performing basic maintenance, mechanical, and service work as directed.

• Maintains thorough knowledge of and adheres to all warranty guidelines related to body repair.

• Inspects buses after repairs to ensure all work has been carried out to the highest standard prior to delivery to the customer.

Minimum Requirements of Auto Body Shop Repair Technician are:

• High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by appropriate technical courses and related experience. Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

• Ability to obtain vendor supplied paint spraying and mixing certifications within a year.

• Mechanical aptitude with technical experience in the medium/heavy-duty truck/bus industry.

• Ability to install advanced bus options including electrical, electronics and required programming.

• Familiar with NYS DOT Regulations.

• Demonstrates technical and mechanical product knowledge.

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (with the proper endorsements) for New York State or for the state of residence, which must be maintained throughout employment – OR – ability to obtain said license per written company policy.
