Pharmacy Assistant Salary Range: $17.64/hr - $26.53/hr
Pharmacy Technician, Associate Salary Range: $18.04/hr - $26.71/hr

As a Pharmacy Technician, Associate, there is the opportunity to -
+ Develop and maintain productive service relationships throughout the medication distribution process to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
+ Participate in the delivery of medications including cassettes, emergency carts, and controlled substances in compliance with policies and regulations.
+ Retrieve discontinued medications and return them for proper credit and restocking to reduce waste and maintain inventory accuracy.
+ Assist in accurately filling and labeling medication orders, including oral, injectable, and intravenous preparations, following proper technique.
+ Prepare sterile and hazardous drug products (e.g., chemotherapy) in compliance with aseptic technique standards and safety protocols.
+ Audit and maintain records of controlled substances to ensure secure storage and compliance with all legal and departmental requirements.
+ Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked work areas and automated dispensing systems to support efficient pharmacy operations.
+ Provide clear communication with healthcare staff, patients, and visitors, while referring clinical questions to licensed pharmacists.
As a Pharmacy Assistant, there is the opportunity to -
+ Develop and maintain positive working relationships during medication distribution to support efficient and courteous service.
+ Participate in delivering medications, including cassettes, emergency carts, and controlled substances, in accordance with legal and departmental guidelines.
+ Retrieve discontinued medications and return them to appropriate areas, ensuring credits are processed when necessary.
+ Assist in filling medication orders through accurate labeling, counting, and stocking while documenting initials and dates as required.
+ Prepare oral medications using proper technique to ensure accurate patient-specific administration at the appropriate time.
+ Maintain a clean, organized, and adequately stocked work environment to support daily pharmacy operations.
+ Ensure all medications are securely stored in compliance with Department of Health, The Joint Commission, and State Board of Pharmacy regulations.
+ Use computer systems to accurately maintain patient information, complete documentation logs, and support regulatory compliance.
Pharmacy Technician, Associate Requirements:
Completion of high school diploma or equivalent AND one of the following:
+ Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program
+ Six months of previous pharmacy technician experience
+ Six months experience as a Pharmacy Assistant within the UPMC Health System
+ Enrollment in an undergraduate pharmacy program and in good standing
Pharmacy Assistant Requirements:
+ Completion of high school diploma or equivalent
