UPMC Presbyterian Poison Center is looking for a casual Senior Pharmacy Technician to join their growing team! The Pharmacy Technician provides pharmaceutical care to patients within the UPMC Health System by assisting with sterile and nonsterile medication preparation, medication filling, and medication distribution.
Schedule:
+ One weekday evening per week (either Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs) from 5pm-9pm or 6pm-10pm
+ Every other weekend rotating 7-3 Sat/Sun and 3-11pm Sat/Sun
Purpose:
The Pharmacy Technician, Senior provides pharmaceutical care to patients by demonstrating proficient abilities in complex IV admixtures (including cytotoxic compounding and TPN compounding), navigating and utilizing the pharmacy information system and filling and distributing medications in the appropriate manner. The Pharmacy Technician, Senior may also have additional skills such as RobotRX skills, operation room skills, controlled substance skills or packing skills. The Pharmacy Technician, Senior services are provided in compliance with Department of Health, The Joint Commission, and State Board of Pharmacy regulations.
Responsibilities:
+ Maintain required documentation (logs, patient records) and pharmacy computer system.
+ Assist with procurement, storage, preparation, and distribution of investigational drugs.
+ Perform regular cleaning, maintenance, and ensure a safe, organized work environment.
+ Accurately fill medication orders and prepare hazardous drugs (e.g., chemotherapy, TPN) using aseptic technique.
+ Train and mentor Pharmacy Technicians in all areas of pharmacy operations.
+ Ensure compliance with regulations for medication storage, including controlled substances.
+ Manage pharmacy inventory and maintain adequate stock levels in all areas.
+ Provide leadership in medication preparation and technical staff workflow.
+ Participate in medication distribution and ensure adherence to department policies and regulations.
+ Support quality improvement efforts to enhance pharmaceutical care and operational efficiency.
+ Completion of high school diploma or equivalent or Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program
+ Three years of previous pharmacy technician experience required.
+ Pharmacy Technician Certification required.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
+ Pharmacy Technician Certification required
+ Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)
+ Act 34
