The NYU Stern Department of Economics is seeking highly motivated individuals with strong quantitative and computational skills to work as full-time junior research scientist (pre-doctoral research fellow) for a minimum duration of one year.
Research will focus on applied microeconomic analysis in collaboration with Professors Petra Moser and Jacob French. Possible research areas include labor, economic history, economic development, and innovation.A start date of September 1, 2025, is preferred, but negotiable. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $50,440 - $60,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
• Programming experience in Python or R is strongly preferred.
• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree with a quantitative concentration is required.
• A background in economics is not necessary, as we welcome candidates with strong quantitative skills who want to gain more exposure to economics.
Candidates with a strong interest in research and potential interest in graduate studies in economics are preferred. Our previous research fellow has gone on to pursue graduate studies at the University of Michigan
