CLINICAL NURSE SPECIALIST - EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT - 40 HOURS - DAY SHIFT
Full Time Benefit Eligible
Shift: Days, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
Occasional off shift rotations may be required based on the launch of proposed initiatives.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Unit Description:
Henry Ford St John Hospital’s Emergency Department is a 100-bed unit consisting of Adult Emergency (75 beds), Pediatric Emergency (13 beds), and the Behavioral Health Observation Annex (12 beds). Our ED is a Level One Trauma Center for Adult patients, and Level Two Trauma Center for Pediatrics. We are a fast-paced unit consisting of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, ER Techs, and Paramedics. Our unit fosters a growth mindset encouraging voluntary participation in planning meetings, shared governance, and educational development.
Role Description:
Our Emergency Department is looking for our first ever Clinical Nurse Specialist! We are seeking a CNS with emergency care experience (critical care or trauma may be considered) that is motivated to propose research-based initiatives, communicate and obtain buy in with various stakeholders, deploy these initiatives in partnership with leadership and staff, and evaluate their ongoing effectiveness. This individual will be vital in our journey to Magnet Designation, and will partner with our Quality Management, Emergency Leadership and Research teams to develop and enact best-practices.

+ Provides advanced care, consultation, research, management and education in a specific clinical area.
+ Provides advanced direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
+ Serves as an expert consultant for staff in areas of program development, clinical practice, and professional development.
+ Contributes to defining, directing and evaluating the nursing care and functions of clinical staff.
+ Manages clinical research projects in support of evidence-based practice and disseminates findings.
+ Develops, implements and evaluates educational plans/programs and utilizes methods, measurements and tools to evaluate achievement of learning goals.
+ May assess the learning needs of patients and families and develops and/or implements teaching programs.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
+ Master's Degree or Doctorate in Nursing required.
+ Current Michigan Clinical Nurse Specialist certification and license required.
+ Prior emergency or critical care nursing experience preferred
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE REQUIRED:
+ Current Michigan Registered Nurse license required.
+ Candidates not possessing current CNS certification & licensure hired as Nurse Practice Specialist (F01677), until CNS certification and licensure obtained (within 90 days of hire).
