Description:
Summary:
This position is responsible for performing technical duties in preparation of surgical, autopsy, and cytology specimens for microscopic examination. It may also involve technical instruction of students in an ASCP-approved Histologic Technique program. The incumbent should be preparing to successfully pass the ASCP-HT examination, which requires a minimum of an Associate Degree.
Requirements:
1. High school diploma or equivalent is required.
2. Completion of some college classes in biological science is required.
3. Associate's degree is preferred.
4. Patience, mechanical ability, functional knowledge of anatomy, chemistry, and physiology is required.
5. Experience in enzyme histochemistry and immunoperoxidase stains is required.
6. Accuracy, reliability, working well under pressure, ability to finish a task once started, communication skills both oral and written are
required.
7. Good hand/eye coordination, speed with accuracy and good mental concentration is preferred.
Pay Range: $31.40- $43.95
