The Data Scientist will be part of the team that will pioneer the next generation of Amazon's hiring practices through advanced scientific methods and innovative modeling approaches. The scientist will develop ML/statistical models for prediction, forecasting, anomaly detection, process monitoring, etc. Design experiments to study causality and / or build simulation models (discrete, systems or agent based) to optimize workforce planning, drive strategic decision-making and develop novel approaches for solving labor market challenges. Key responsibilities include building scalable statistical/ML models that provide actionable hiring insights, developing agent-based systems for process simulation and to enable experimentation, and generally creating adaptive models / frameworks / systems that respond to market dynamics. They will leverage MLOps practices to deploy and maintain production systems, while providing technical enablement across teams. The Data Scientist will closely collaborate with Product, Software Engineering, Data engineering and Business Intelligence Engineering teams , following agile framework to deliver on Amazon’s hiring promise. This position will be instrumental in shaping Amazon's scientific approach to workforce planning and hiring optimization.
Key job responsibilities
o Lead quantitative analyses and develop statistical models using Python, R, and other programming languages to:
• Solve complex business challenges through data-driven insights
• Identify patterns and trends in large datasets
• Create predictive models to optimize business outcomes
• Implement and validate statistical methodologies
o Develop comprehensive technical documentation including:
• Detailed methodology reports
• Model specifications and assumptions
• Statistical analysis procedures
• Validation results and model performance metrics
• Implementation guidelines and recommendations
Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of data scientist experience
- 3+ years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.) experience
- 3+ years of machine learning/statistical modeling data analysis tools and techniques, and parameters that affect their performance experience
- Experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Python, Perl, or another scripting language
- Experience in a ML or data scientist role with a large technology company
