Position Title: MM&D Project Support, Emerging Talent Intern
Hourly Rate: $19.00 (Undergraduate)
OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT:
The Department of Materials Management and Distribution is responsible for the administration and control of New York City Transit’s inventory assets. Inventory assets are the various materials and supplies that are used in daily operations throughout the system, whether for office work, maintenance shops or structural repairs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Assist in recreating Microsoft Power BI Reports using Azure Database with scripts to enhance data management and report generation.
+ Develop and implement SQL sequence code to recreate MPBI Reports, enabling faster data loading and refresh processes for table data.
+ Familiarize and apply advanced Excel formulas including IFERROR, XLOOKUP, INDEX, MATCH, and FILTER to streamline report analysis and ensure data integrity.
+ Manage and maintain the existing MPBI Reports, ensuring the accurate application of formulas across tabs and keeping reports up to date.
+ Assist in recreating forms into editable forms from the current templates to facilitate better data entry and processing.
+ Regularly update and monitor the reports, including troubleshooting any discrepancies or data issues that arise.
+ Utilize data analysis tools to provide insights and assist with decision-making for report optimizations.
+ Coordinate with cross-functional teams to gather data requirements and ensure reports are accurate and tailored to business needs.
PROJECTS:
+ Assisting in the creation and optimization of Microsoft Power BI reports using data from the Azure Database.
+ Developing SQL code for database query writing to streamline report generation and data refresh processes.
+ Converting current templates into editable forms to improve data entry accuracy and efficiency.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas (XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, IFERROR, FILTER, etc.).
+ Experience with SQL coding, specifically for database query writing and report generation.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Power BI for data visualization, report creation, and dashboard management.
+ Familiarity with Azure Database and its integration with reporting systems.
+ Strong analytical skills with the ability to manipulate and interpret complex data sets.
+ Ability to troubleshoot and optimize database queries and report functions.
+ Good understanding of data structures and ability to manage large data sets efficiently.
+ Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
+ Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise with various departments.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
+ Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA
+ Major(s) Preferred: Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Business Analytics, Mathematics, and Engineering (related fields).
