Associate Project Scientist (JPF10274) | 04/09/2025
The UCLA Joint Institute for Regional Earth System Science and Engineering (JIFRESSE) invites applications for a position of Associate Project Scientist whose primary role will be consulting on boundary layer cloud research. Consultation topics will include the following:
• Design of gigascale large eddy simulations of maritime shallow convection
• Interpretation of simulated cloud dynamical and microphysical processes
• Development and evaluation of remote sensing retrievals of vertical motion and cloud properties

Basic qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application):
• Appointee must possess a doctorate degree, in the field of engineering, statistics, earth science, or related disciplines.
• Previous training and experience in large eddy simulation, parameterization development, and retrieval development
• Extensive knowledge and expertise in cloud microphysical and dynamical processes
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
