Job Summary:

The Construction Audit Accountant will play a vital role in overseeing financial compliance and maintaining operational accuracy for construction projects. This role requires a keen attention to detail, advanced financial reporting skills, and a solid understanding of construction accounting practices. The ideal candidate will be responsible for auditing project financials, verifying vendor contracts, and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Conduct audits of construction project financials to ensure accuracy and compliance with budgets, agreements, and regulations.

+ Review contracts, change orders, and invoices to confirm proper documentation and alignment with project scope.

+ Collaborate with project managers and accounting teams to identify and resolve discrepancies or inconsistencies.

+ Analyze construction costs and financial performance, ensuring adherence to established budgets and timelines.

+ Monitor subcontractor payments and vendor relationships to ensure compliance with company policies.

+ Prepare detailed financial reports for project stakeholders and executive leadership, including variance analysis.

+ Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and construction-specific accounting regulations.

+ Assist in the implementation and optimization of ERP systems and software related to construction finance.

Requirements

Requirements:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA preferred but not required.

+ 3+ years of experience in accounting, auditing, or financial analysis within the construction industry.

+ Proficiency with ERP software and advanced Excel skills.

+ Strong understanding of construction workflows, contracts, and vendor management.

+ Expertise in compliance reporting and financial audit processes.

+ Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

+ Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships across internal and external teams.

Skills and Certifications:

+ CPA certification or pursuit preferred.

+ Advanced financial reporting capabilities, construction-specific accounting knowledge, and ERP system proficiency.

+ Construction compliance knowledge is a strong advantage.
