POSITION SUMMARY:
The Program Coordinator for the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement’s (MONSE) Community Violence Intervention and Prevention (CVIP) Academy will oversee programmatic aspects of the CVIP Academy and Learning Community. This role involves coordinating training activities, recruiting participants, developing program materials, and ensuring alignment with best practices in community violence intervention. The Program Coordinator will play a key role in building the capacity of community-based organizations and individuals engaged in CVIP work. This is a3-year funded position, based on federal funding provisions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
+ Develop and oversee the implementation of the CVIP Academy training curriculum, ensuring alignment with evidence-based violence intervention and prevention strategies.
+ Coordinate recruitment efforts for Academy participants, including outreach to community-based organizations (CBOs) and frontline violence intervention practitioners.
+ Manage relationships with technical assistance providers and partner organizations to ensure high-quality professional development opportunities.
+ Organize and facilitate training sessions, workshops, and networking events for Academy participants.
+ Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness through participant assessments, training completion rates, and feedback.
+ Work closely with the Community Action Table (CAT) and Violence Reduction Council (VRC) to integrate findings from research and community needs assessments into the Academy curriculum.
+ Develop and maintain program guides, training materials, and outreach documents.
+ Assist in managing subgrants to CBOs, ensuring alignment with CVIP Academy goals and objectives.
+ Support sustainability planning for CVIP programming, including identifying funding opportunities and potential partnerships.
+ Maintain accurate records, track program metrics, and contribute to reporting requirements for grant compliance.
+ Attend mandatory meetings and trainings.
+ Ongoing professional development.
+ Follow all directions and guidance from Director.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of:
+ Community violence intervention models and public health approaches to violence prevention.
+ Trauma-informed care and conflict resolution strategies.
+ Adult learners.
Skill in:
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across sectors.
+ Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
+ Data collection and evaluation skills to assess program impact and inform continuous improvement.
Ability to:
+ Engage with diverse stakeholders, including grassroots organizations, community leaders, and public agencies.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATIONS:
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Public Health, Social Work, Education, or a related field.
+ Minimum of 2 years of experience in program coordination, program development, community organizing, or violence intervention and prevention.
+ Experience working with community-based organizations.
+ Must possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record.
+ Must be willing to work non-traditional hours, including some weekends and evenings.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS:
+ Experience conducting training.
+ Program development, monitoring and evaluation, and curriculum design.
+ Rewire CBT, Motivational Interviewing, or other evidence-based behavior change communication strategies.
+ Awareness of evidence-based violence intervention strategies such as Cure Violence, Group Violence Intervention (GVI), or hospital-based violence intervention programs.

Health Insurance
The City of Toledo is a self-funded medical plan provider that offers a broad network of health services options for its employees. The City also offers a multi-tiered prescription drug plan and dental and vision care services.
Employees are required to pay a monthly premium depending on the employee’s selection of single, single plus one, or family coverage. Coverage is also afforded for qualifying domestic partners, depending on the employee’s bargaining unit. Monthly co-premiums are determined by collective bargaining agreement or Municipal Code.
Group Life Insurance
City employees are covered by a group life insurance plan depending on collective bargaining agreement or Municipal Code.
Ohio Public Employees Retirement Plan
The City is a member of the Ohio Public Employees Retirement Plan (OPERS). All employees who are paid in whole or in part by the state of Ohio, a county, municipality, or any other political subdivision of state or local government in Ohio must become members of OPERS unless they are covered by another state retirement system in Ohio.
OPERS is a pension plan providing fixed retirement benefits every month based on a formula that rewards years of service. The City contributes 14.00% of the employee’s annual base salary and employees contribute 10.00% of their annual base salary.

Deferred Compensation & 401(K)
The City of Toledo offers a voluntary governmental 457(b) deferred compensation plan, which is a retirement savings plan that allows eligible employees to supplement any existing retirement/pension benefits by saving and investing pre-tax dollars through salary deferral.
Contributions and any earnings are tax-deferred (both federal and state income taxes) until money is withdrawn. Withdrawals are taxed at ordinary income levels.

401(k)
The City of Toledo offers a voluntary pre-tax savings contributions retirement plan. The plan is commonly referred to as a 401(k).
Under the 401(k) plan, an employee’s retirement savings contributions are deducted from the employee’s paycheck before taxation. The City does not make contributions on the employee’s behalf. (Contributions are tax-deferred until withdrawn during retirement). Annual contributions to the 401(k) plan are limited to a maximum pre-tax annual contribution, as established by Internal Revenue Service regulations.
Roth 401(k)
The City of Toledo also offers a voluntary post-tax savings contributions retirement plan. This plan is commonly referred to as a Roth 401(k) Plan.
Under a Roth 401(k) Plan, an employee’s retirement savings contributions are deducted from the employee’s paycheck on a post-tax basis. Annual contributions to the Roth 401(k) plan are limited to a maximum post-tax annual contribution, as established by the Internal Revenue Service.
