    Department Summary

    The Department of Planning, Public Policy and Management (PPPM) offers 3 master’s programs, including Community and Regional Planning, Nonprofit Management, and Public Administration. The Community and Regional Planning program awards a MCRP and is accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board. The Public Administration program awards an MPA and is accredited by the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA). The department also offers an undergraduate PPPM major, pre-PPPM major, and minors in PPPM and Nonprofit Administration (NPA). The department is home to 14 tenure-track faculty, 40 non-tenure track faculty, 100 graduate students and 450 undergraduate students.

    Position Summary

    Lecturers will teach graduate and instructors will teach undergraduate classes in community and regional planning, nonprofit management, public policy, or public administration. Our intent is to establish a local teaching pool for possible appointments in urban planning, natural resource policy, education policy, local government management, human resource management, management information systems, financial management, health policy, equity and social justice, and other areas of planning, public administration, public policy, and nonprofit management. We seek candidates from diverse backgrounds who have the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.

    Minimum Requirements

    Instructor:

    • Master’s degree. In exceptional circumstances, a BA/BS degree and evidence of substantial professional experience may substitute for a degree.

    Lecturer (for those teaching primarily graduate-level courses):

    • Terminal degree in relevant field.

    Professional Competencies

    • Previous teaching experience in the course topics to be taught is preferred.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Ph.D. in a relevant field.
