    Minimum qualifications:

    + Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

    + 5 years of experience in program management.

    + Experience in hardware or electrical engineering.

    + Experience with hardware compliance standards and certifications (i.e. UL/IEC 62368-1, FCC, ICES, CE, etc.).

    Preferred qualifications:

    + 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.

    + Experience with electrical safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), radio frequency (RF) performance, and environmental regulations (i.e. RoHS).

    + Experience providing guidance early in the product development life-cycle through new product introduction (NPI).

    + Experience in hardware testing and validation processes.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

     

    The Geo Hardware Operations NPI team scales next generation Street View hardware to ensure global coverage data collection. The NPI team is the bridge between engineering design and the global driving operations. We validate and certify the next generation Street View hardware working with contract manufacturers, testing facilities, and collaborate with country officials across the world.

     

    As a Technical Program Manager, you will design, manufacture, and distribute hardware products internationally. You will have a comprehensive understanding of engineering design as well as constantly changing the landscape of global regulatory requirements and safety standards. You will ensure that all of our hardware products can be legally and safely used in various markets worldwide.

     

    The Geo team is focused on building the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for our users, through products like Maps, Earth, Street View, Google Maps Platform, and more. Every month, more than a billion people rely on Maps services to explore the world and navigate their daily lives.

     

    The Geo team also enables developers to use the power of Google Maps platforms to enhance their apps and websites. As they plot a course for the future of mapping, they are solving complex computer science problems, designing beautiful and intuitive product experiences, and improving our understanding of the real world.

     

    The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000-$229,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.     + Ensure products meet safety (UL/IEC 62368-1) and EMC (e.g., FCC, ICES, CE) standards and certifications for various global markets.

    + Work with hardware design teams throughout the product life-cycle to ensure compliance from the initial design phase to manufacturing and shipping.

    + Apply and manage global certifications, resolving compliance issues, and assisting with certificate factory audits.

    + Collaborate with internal stakeholders across engineering, product development, legal, and public policy.

    + Build relationships with industry associations, regulatory bodies, and standards development organizations.
