UPMC Passavant is hiring a Full Time Clinician Fellow to support our C2 Main Unit at our Cranberry Township location.
This is a full time Monday- Friday rotating schedule.
About the Unit:
**C2 Main i** s a Medical Surgical Telemetry unit that specializes in general medical, post operative, and stroke care.
Purpose: The Clinician Fellow serves as an exemplary role model in professional nursing practice, specializing in areas such as expert clinical practice, teaching/development, and evidence-based practice. This role collaborates with management to foster a culture of excellence in nursing practice and patient care. Under the guidance of the Unit Director or Department Manager, the Clinician Fellow assists with employee evaluations, staff selection and hiring, and performance management. They hold authority and accountability for nursing care delivery, utilizing the nursing process. In partnership with other healthcare professionals, the Clinician Fellow applies advanced clinical knowledge and skills to achieve superior patient care outcomes. Additionally, they provide service-based education and clinical expertise to staff, including orientation, training, and consultation on practice issues, while coordinating clinical activities on a shift basis. The Clinician Fellow demonstrates a commitment to the community and the nursing profession.
Responsibilities:
+ Leadership in Clinical Practice:
+ Identify opportunities for improvement in patient and staff care.
+ Lead change processes and support staff during transitions.
+ Participate in shared leadership at unit, facility, or system levels.
+ Assume formal leadership roles in quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and new hire onboarding.
+ Assist the Unit/Department Leader with peer review processes.
+ Patient Care:
+ Apply nursing knowledge within the framework of Relationship-Based Care.
+ Meet the clinical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients and families.
+ Communicate effectively with care providers and recommend changes in patient care and unit practices.
+ Ensure comprehensive patient documentation to promote caregiver communication.
+ Demonstrate critical thinking in analyzing clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual issues.
+ Quality Improvement:
+ Utilize performance improvement tools and techniques.
+ Continuously enhance the quality of care and work environment.
+ Integrate research and best practices into daily work.
+ Share improvements and innovations across units and the system.
+ Professional Development:
+ Build and maintain productive working relationships internally and externally.
+ Mentor and model positive communication and teamwork.
+ Coach colleagues on cultural diversity and address workplace issues such as horizontal violence and impairment.
+ Demonstrate accountability for safe work hours and time management.
Demonstrated competence as a Professional Staff Nurse.
Minimum 2 years experience.
If BSN not at time of hire, must be enrolled in a program within one year of hire/transfer date and completed within three years of enrollment.
MSN or CNL preferred.
Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families.
Mobility and visual manual dexterity. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting and positioning of patients
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
NIHSS required within 6 Months from Hire/Transfer into department/ role, ACLS required within 6 months of hire/ transfer into department/ role.
+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
+ NIH Stroke Scale (NIH)
+ Registered Nurse (RN)
+ Act 33 with renewal
+ Act 34 with renewal
+ Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
