Responsibilities:
+ Demonstrates a willingness to learn new skills as well as educate others in their areas of expertise. Serves as a resource for new hires and students
+ Demonstrates the ability to function independently, and perform services at other facilities including on call responsibility
+ Performs all job responsibilities of an Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist
+ Works as team member within assigned area to expedite patient care efficiently by demonstrating excellent communication and customer service skills. Effectively communicates with physicians, co-workers, managers, and patients in assigned sites and/or departments
+ Completes yearly project designed for the service line and or for implementation at the system level, content agreed upon with management. Content areas include but not limited to: evidence based practice change; service line workgroup leadership; quality improvement; research.
+ Demonstrate mastery of all equipment utilized for procedures
+ Active role in inventory management as assigned. Assures that annual lead apron testing is completed
+ Active participation in quality improvement activities for department as well as system level workgroups
+ Support other departments as directed or assignedMust demonstrate a basic knowledge of the operation of both equipment and suppliesSome responsibilities may not be applicable due to specific job locations
+ Ensures all images within his/her area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through the PACS, and are properly networked to appropriate electronic record for archival and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the procedures performedMaintains continuing education and competency requirements for position
+ Identifies all patients properly by using two patient identifiers and utilizes universal protocol when performing procedures. Reviews patient history and assesses physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results in the acquisition of data. Documents patient history in electronic record as required
+ Demonstrates the ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner and explain procedures to help allay the patient?s fears and solicit their cooperation
+ Demonstrates a strong ability to interact with both patients and co-workers, while displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity and respect. Able to work as team member within the department and all other departments to expedite patient care efficiently
+ Maintains point of care testing standards, including daily quality control, for devices used for procedures
+ Active participant in quality improvement activities for the department
+ Provides stand by call coverage, as scheduled, in accordance with system-wide stand by call procedure/policy
+ Administers contrast under the direction of the procedure physician
+ Demonstrates competency in functioning in the first assist position
+ Fosters an environment that supports aseptic technique during procedures and patient safety with the incorporation of a time-out process
+ Practices with attentiveness to radiation safety for the patient as well as others in the procedure room including appropriate use of lead shielding and monitoring devices. Assures documentation of patient radiation exposure in electronic record.
+ Demonstrate proper positioning and appropriate radiographic techniques for all diagnostic and interventional procedures. Exhibits a clear understanding of correct patient preparation, equipment operations and patient monitoring systems
+ Must be able to perform all job responsibilities of the Invasive Cardiac Tech.
Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology (RT-R) or Invasive Cardiovascular Specialist (RCIS) of Invasive Cardiovascular Specialist (RCIS) certification with current credentialing maintained. Bachelor of Science in health care related filed accepted but not required. Must have a minimum of 2 years' experience as an invasive cardiac tech. Must be able to work and support 2 specialties within invasive cardiology (cardiology, EP, PV, Hybrid, IR or Structural Heart). Must be able to utilize all the equipment necessary in the 2 specialties. Proficient with all POC testing. Must be able to be a preceptor for the specialties that they cover. Must receive a solid or higher on most recent evaluation or HSL evaluation
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
ARRT Certificate OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist. CPR and ACLS certification is required.
ACLS certification is desired upon hire. Successful completion of ACLS certification required within orientation period. Exception: ACLS is NOT required for Outpatient roles.

+ Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
+ Radiologic Technologist OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist
+ Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
+ Act 33 with renewal
+ Act 34 with renewal
+ Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
