Position Summary Information

Job Summary/Basic Function

What You’ll Do – Position Responsibilities:

+ Mentor first-year students transitioning directly from high school to Lamar University. In the first half of the fall semester, you will collaborate with assigned mentors to plan and lead weekly seminars. You will assist students by identifying their needs and connecting them to relevant campus resources.

+ Highly organized with strong attention to detail.

+ Strong confidentiality ethic.

+ Proficient in Microsoft 365 and Blackboard.

Physical Requirements:

+ Able to lift 15 pounds and be able to perform a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing, and walking between buildings. Able to operate classroom desktop and projector.

Minimum Qualifications

+ Lamar University alumnus.

+ Available to attend the Cardinal Communities program kickoff on August 15, 2025, from 10am – 3pm.

+ Attend in-person weekly meetups with your assigned mentor and mentees for the first half of the fall semester.
