    As a Speech Pathologist, you will diagnose and treat conditions that affect the ability to communicate and swallow. As an expert in communication, you will assess patient conditions in the aim of improving and/or preventing speech, language, voice and swallowing disorders from birth through old age. In this role, you can help patients open new communication possibilities and enhance their connections with others as they learn to express themselves more effectively in social settings or swallow safely.

     

    A caregiver in this position works days from 8:30AM - 4:00PM.

    A caregiver who excels in this role will:

    + Evaluate patients and apply a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for the rehabilitation of patients with functional limitations, impairments and disorders.

    + Provide, interpret, plan and supervise patient evaluations and treatments in accordance with the physician referral, ensuring the care, safety and wellbeing of the patient.

    + Continually review the plan of care and make revisions as needed.

    + Prepare progress reports on all treatments in conjunction with departmental policies and procedures and report to the physician as needed.

    + Instruct and counsel medical staff and family members to assist the patient in treatment techniques.

    + Perform voice evaluations, treatment of various voice disorders and bedside swallow evaluations.

    + Demonstrate competency with the MBSs for adults and pediatrics.

    + Follow Code Blue protocol as per Clinic policy.

    + Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by JCAHO.

    Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Masters, Doctorate or SLP-D Degree from an accredited School of Speech-Language Pathology

    + Current Speech-Language Pathology License (SP) from the State Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology

    + Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American-Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA)

    Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Experience with medical speech pathology

    + Flexibility to float between sites
