Job Description:
The Assistant Dean for Content and Access advances OHIO’s Dynamic Strategy by leading strategic Libraries initiatives in the areas of collections, systems and discovery. Leading a team of approximately 25 staff, the AD for Content and Access will apply their expertise in library systems workflows, data-driven collection analysis, and emerging discovery methods to maximize the Libraries’ impact on research, teaching and learning. Responsible for the strategic utilization of approximately $5.3M in annual collections expenditures, the AD for Content and Access will forge and nurture mutually beneficial collaborations with other research libraries to realize efficiencies and maximize shared investments.
Job Responsibilities:
+ Leads and develops strategic and operational goals for the Libraries’ Content and Access Division, including the Acquisitions, Content, and Metadata departments. Serves as first-level supervisor of managers of those departments. Recruits, hires, manages performance, and provides coaching, mentoring and support.
+ Collaboratively develops and executes Libraries-wide strategies to support faculty and student content and discovery needs. This entails deep and broad engagement with faculty to understand emerging areas of teaching and research, as well as up-to-date knowledge of scholarly publishing, library systems and services. Collaborates closely with the Assistant Dean for Research and Education Services and the Director of Mahn Center, Preservation, and Digital Initiatives to ensure successful cooperative and collaborative initiatives across the Libraries and to advance the preservation, discovery, and access of digital content.
+ As a member of the Libraries Leadership Team, contributes to overall strategy, program development and assessment, staff appreciation and wellness initiatives, budget management, and fundraising.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ This role must be occupied by a professional librarian. A master’s degree in library and information science from an ALA -accredited school (or from a similar master’s program accredited or recognized by the appropriate national body of another country) is the terminal degree for a professional librarian.
+ 8 years of work related experience
+ 3 years of management experience

Advertised Salary:
The target salary for this position is $112,000 to $128,000 and is commensurate with the selected candidate’s education and experience while considering internal equity.
