General Description:
The incumbent will be responsible for the maintenance and preparation of the Practical Nursing skills laboratories at the Plainfield Campus under the supervision of the Director of Nursing. He/she will be responsible for preparing the laboratories and updating inventory lists.
Characteristics, Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist the Practical Nursing faculty and academic specialists to organize and prepare materials for skilled lab, demonstration, and competency testing.
• Maintain the nursing lab scheduling to ensure maximum access to and utilization by students.
• Prepare supplies, equipment, and set up skills and health assessment labs for faculty demonstrations, teaching, and competency testing.
• Maintain open lab hours for students’ review and practice of nursing skills.
• Maintain the organization and cleanliness of labs each week.
• Maintain sufficient amount of consumable supplies for health assessment and skills.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment in skills lab and health assessment labs each semester and manages the storage rooms in an orderly manner.
• Ensure routine maintenance, upgrades, repair and replacement of skills and health assessment laboratory equipment and supplies.
• Ensure the safe storage, collection, and disposal of hazardous and waste materials according to according to "New Jersey Right to Know Act” and other relevant regulations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by Division Dean.
Education Requirements:
Associate degree in Nursing required or Certificate in Nursing or related field with an equivalent combination of education and experience to demonstrate core competencies.
Current NJ RN or LPN license
Experience:
• Demonstrated nursing clinical experience or skilled laboratory practice preferred.
• Experience working with faculty/staff to support laboratory activities for students.
• Teaching and/or tutoring experience with nursing students preferred.
Competencies and Skills Required:

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
• This position’s duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.
• Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
