    What Your Job Will Be Like:

    We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team in deploying and maintaining Mechanical Computer Aided Design (MCAD), Model-Based Definition (MBD), and Product Data Management (PDM) capabilities for Sandia National Laboratories and the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE). This capability will empower engineering and design staff to create digital designs and product definition for Nuclear Deterrence (ND) weapon products. You will be responsible for delivering MCAD, MBD, and PDM tools, as well as developing business processes that establishes a robust and comprehensive digital product definition capability for various mechanical products. You will implement commercially available tools and industry standards to transition Sandia National Labs away from traditional document-based mechanical drawings to advanced digital product definition tools and processes. You will also collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and organizations to integrate digital product definition tools and data with other engineering systems, contributing to the establishment of a comprehensive NSE digital engineering ecosystem. Additionally, you will lead and support initiatives to digitally connect and integrate digital product definition data throughout the product realization lifecycle, thus enhancing the quality and efficiency across various domains including simulation, manufacturing, inspection, and product acceptance.

    Salary Range:

    $99,400 - $193,600

     

    *Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

    Qualifications We Require:

    + Bachelor’s degree in a relevant STEM discipline (e.g. mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, information technologies, computer engineering, computer science, etc.) or 8 years of equivalent relevant experience.

    + Plus 5 or more years of relevant experience directly related to this position.

    + Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q Clearance.

    Qualifications We Desire:

    + MCAD Systems: Strong understanding of Mechanical Computer-Aided Design (MCAD) systems, with the ability to effectively manage and optimize the MCAD tools to enhance mechanical design processes. PTC Creo Parametric knowledge is preferred.

    + CAD Data Exchange Expertise: Strong knowledge of 3D CAD file formats and their implications for manufacturing and inspection, enabling effective collaboration across engineering and production teams.

    + PDM Systems: Strong understanding of Product Data Management (PDM) systems, with a focus on ensuring data integrity and supporting configuration management best practices. PTC Windchill/PDMLink knowledge is preferred.

    + Data Management & Integration: Experience leveraging database technologies to manage and integrate data across various platforms, particularly Product Data Management. Oracle knowledge is preferred.

    + Process Improvement Mindset: Demonstrated experience improving processes and implementing solutions that elevate the quality and efficiency of design outputs.

    + Project Delivery: Proven track record of successfully delivering complex solutions, demonstrating strong organizational skills to deliver high-quality solutions that align with stakeholder expectations and timelines.

    + Cross-Functional Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, fostering collaboration and communication to deliver solutions that enhance user workflows and productivity.

    + Stakeholder Engagement: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the capacity to engage and negotiate with diverse stakeholders, balancing competing priorities to achieve critical outcomes.

    About Our Team:

    Department 02953 is a department with a strong sense of team camaraderie. We share knowledge and innovate together as a unit. Together as a team, we are dedicated to establishing and maintaining digital product definition capabilities including Mechanical Computer Aided Design (MCAD), Model-Based Definition (MBD), and Product Data Management (PDM). The capability and training we provide enables engineers and designers to create digital product definition data that is digitally reusable across the nuclear weapon product lifecycle. The ultimate goal of this department is to increase efficiencies and dramatically reduce the time required to realize nuclear weapons through the implementation of digital engineering and concurrent engineering methodologies across the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE).

    Posting Duration:

    Security Clearance:

    Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

    If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
