Job Summary
POSITION SUMMARY
The Post-Baccalaureate Fellow will support institutional efforts to deepen the College’s engagement with Black alumni history through three key areas: the institutionalization of namesake traditions in Renfrow Hall, the development of an archive of Black alumni interviews, and the advancement of public history coursework in collaboration with faculty.
This position builds on Grinnell College’s recent work honoring Renfrow Hall and aims to broaden the institutional narrative by centering the experiences of historically marginalized alumni. The fellow will be vital in linking this work to the College’s mission and supporting efforts to repair and strengthen relationships with Black alumni.
The position includes occasional travel (approximately 20%) for project-related activities.
Key Responsibilities
+ Conduct and archive interviews with Black alumni to support the development of an institutional oral history collection.
+ Curate a permanent display and plan related programming and activities for Renfrow Hall that reflect and honor Black alumni experiences.
+ Collaborate with faculty to support creating and integrating courses in oral history and public history.
+ Assist in connecting Renfrow Hall initiatives to the broader mission and values of the College.
+ Contribute to initiatives that foster inclusion, historical awareness, and relationship-building with Black alumni communities.

Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university
+ Less than six months of work experience
+ Grinnell College graduates will be considered first

Preferred Qualifications
+ Understanding of the historical and cultural experiences of Black alumni at Grinnell is preferred.
