Position Summary:
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Florida Atlantic University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position, starting in January 2026. We are seeking outstanding researchers with diverse statistical, bioinformatics, computational, and mathematical skills as well as experience in interdisciplinary research in the life sciences.
We are interested in candidates whose research areas broadly relate to theory or applications of statistics/data science and computational mathematics. An ideal candidate should have a background in research that complements the ongoing research in the statistics/data science and applied analysis groups in the department. These include theoretical or applied statistics, biostatistics, topological data analysis, machine learning, dynamical systems, applications of data science in biology/life sciences, computational biology, and mathematical, statistical, and AI modeling in the life sciences. The successful candidate is expected to teach effectively at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, initiate and carry out independent research, apply/secure external funding and provide service to the department, the university, and the profession.

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an earned doctorate in mathematics, statistics or a related discipline at the time of application. Post-doctoral experience is strongly preferred. Candidates should have a strong publication record commensurate with their experience, demonstrated potential for establishing programs of extramurally funded and independent research, and clear promise of excellent instructional capacity. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to foster and create educational opportunities where all student populations thrive.

Transcripts:
The selected candidate for this position is required to submit an official transcript sent directly from the institution for the Provost’s credential file prior to the first day of employment. Similarly, for degrees from outside the United States, the evaluation by an organization belonging to the National Association of Credential Evaluation (NACES), with an indication of the documents the evaluation was prepared from (official transcripts, diplomas, dissertation abstracts) is required for the Provost’s credential file prior to the first day of employment.
