    Description

    20+ hours a week of small group and private swim lessons are available.

     

    Instruct individuals of all ages in swimming skills according to swimEGR standards to ensure the participants success.

     

    Essential Job Functions

     

    + Instruct individuals of all ages in skills according to swimEGR standards

    + Directly responsible to the Aquatic Supervisor

    Functions performed in fulfilling responsibilities:

    + Prevent accidents and minimize/eliminate hazardous situations in pool areas.

    + Respond quickly to all emergency situations using proper procedures/techniques.

    + Enforce all pool regulations set by the EGR Parks and Recreation Department.

    + Administer emergency First Aid and/or CPR if certified to any person injured in the pool area and assist Lifeguard(s) in the completion of reports, (certified lifeguards only).

    + Work all scheduled shifts or secure own substitute.

    + Attend all scheduled staff meetings, in-services and workshops.

    + Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times.

    + Maintain positive relations and rapport with pool patrons.

    + Complete all necessary paperwork.

    + Any other duties assigned by the Aquatic Supervisor.

     

    Supplemental information

     

    + Minimum of 1-year experience as an instructor.

    + Good organizational skills

    + Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others (especially children).

    + Preferred certifications include ARC Lifeguarding, First Aid and Professional Rescuer CPR/AED.

    + Ability to perform well in emergency situations.
