    Position Overview:

    The Philanthropy Officer III, Corporate & Foundation Relations (CFR), will write and secure grants from start to finish (research, identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship) from philanthropic corporations and private foundations and will manage a portfolio of 100+ corporate and private foundation prospects under the supervision of the Director, CFR. This position requires the ability to write persuasive letters of inquiry, proposals, and other correspondence that explain complex healthcare projects and create a compelling case for support. The Officer has experience building strong relationships and collaborating with representatives of grantmaking corporations and private foundations as well as internal Philanthropy staff, physicians, leadership, and other stakeholders across the Sutter Health system.

    EDUCATION:

    _Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma._

     

    Bachelor's

    TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

    5 years recent relevant experience.

    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

    + Travel throughout the region required, occasional evening and weekend work, and ability to adjust to other needs of the department.

    + Strong interpersonal skills, self-confident, diplomatic, collaborative, team player, strategic, good judgment, with utmost respect for confidentiality.

    + Ability to represent Philanthropy to external audiences through the use of strong verbal and written communication skills.

    + Must have the ability to prioritize in a highly complex and fast-moving environment.

    + Able to keep the larger vision in mind even while working with a team to support the smallest details.

    + The ability to engender trust with a wide range of people will be crucial as will confidentiality and finesse in what is a high-touch stewardship-oriented role.

    + Proven track record of developing and advancing significant private philanthropic support.

    + In-depth knowledge of the local service area and its constituency, culture and philanthropic practices.

    + Documented success personally implementing sophisticated, multi-year cultivation strategies that use a relationship-building and moves management approach leading to successful closure of major gifts.

    + Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to diplomatically and effectively communicate in person, writing and by phone.

    + Ability to work independently and also within a complex structure and evolving team.

    + Collaborative problem solver who can take initiative and set priorities.

    + Team-oriented thinker and strategist able to effectively respond to complicated situations involving numerous and sometimes competing organizational constituencies.

    + A dynamic personality who will be a strong advocate for Philanthropy in the community.

    + Ability to prepare written communication on fundraising programs.

    + Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing assigned duties. Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects.

    + Adept at navigating complex environment with evolving priorities and communication plans.

    + Demonstrated knowledge and utilization of information systems to support fundraising activities.

    + Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

    Pay Range is $50.93 to $76.39 / hour

     

    _The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package._ _​_
