Overview
The incumbent will provide leadership and support to center health
information management coordinators and health information consultants. The incumbent will
align corporate, divisional and center information management goals and objectives while
ensuring adherence to federal, state and company policies or industry standards. The Corporate
Health Information Manager will be responsible for effective and appropriate management of the
organization’s records management program by developing relationships with centers and/or
company business units, as well supporting relationships with storage vendors and associated
tasks across multiple geographical areas.
Responsibilities
1. Assumes responsibility for the records management program implementationand
compliance.
2. Maintains and further develops records management program by updatingapplicable
policies in accordance with state and federal regulations or industry standards.
3. Educate and support the training of corporate, divisional and center staff on the duties of
records management and acceptable practices and policies.
4. Collaborate with and support corporate, divisional and center staff in relation to projects or
transactions involving records management.
5. Provides support and guidance on proper coding.
6. Maintains specific and necessary contraols to ensure confidentiality of protectedhealth
information and strictly adheres to HIPAA policies and procedures.
7. Manage records disclosure process by providing direction and support in the reviewof
record requests for compliance with applicable federal law and advising corporate,
divisional and center staff regarding the same.
8. Provides support and guidance in ensuring the quality of records prior to production to thirparties by establishing processes to verify record completeness and accuracy.
9. Conducts or directs internal audits and evaluation to measure compliance with
organization’s records management program.
10. Develop and support training programs and orientation for recordsmanagement
coordinators, specialists and managers.
11. Standardize process for communications of areas of concern and establish follow-up
mechanisms to ensure improvement in areas relating to records management.
12. Performs other duties as requested.
Qualifications
1. BA or BS Degree or equivalent experience.
2. Certification in Records Management (CRM), Registered Health InformationAdministrator
(RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) credentials strongly preferred
or at least 5 years experience with records management long-term care or acute care setting.
3. Working knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations regarding healthinformation
management, retention and disclosures, including extensive knowledge of HIPAA.
4. Working knowledge of ICD Coding with certification in ICD Coding preferred.
5. Experience with electronic medical records and other electronic records, alongwith
computer skills.
6. This position requires that the employee is able to read, write, speak and understand the
spoken English language to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our patients and visitorsat
the work site when responding to their medical and physical needs.
Posted Salary Range
USD $17.00 - USD $25.00 /Hr.
