Civil Inspector- Temporary
POWER Engineers, Inc. Member of WSP is currently seeking a Temporary Civil Inspector. This position will be primarily responsible for performing inspections on Transmission rights of way, high voltage electrical Substations, Microwave communication sites or other facilities included in the project. This position is 100% travel. POWER will provide mobilization to and from the project. Work will be conducted in Nevada with possible future opportunities in the lower 48 states of the United States. This is a Temporary position; the opportunity for full time employment will be evaluated at a later date and is dependent upon employee performance, project schedule, and any potential delays.
Required Education/Experience
+ The successful candidate will have 7+ years of active field experience, computer skills (to properly fill out daily and weekly reports) and be capable of photo documentation with working knowledge of Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat.
+ 5 + years of field experience and 3 years in a lead/supervisory role is preferred.
+ Conducts daily quality observations, audits, and verification of daily construction activities.
+ Review, report, and advise daily Project Construction Quality!
+ Communicate nonconforming items to Quality Manager. Document nonconforming items.
+ Ability to interpret national construction standards.
+ Civil construction means and methods.
+ Participate in daily, weekly and monthly project meetings, as required
+ Travel requirement is based on project location.
Desired Education/Experience
+ Knowledge of various types of foundations used on Transmission Lines, Substations and Microwave/ Communication Sites.
+ Certified ACI level II field concrete inspector.
+ Quality control and/or assurance means and methods.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication.
+ Excellent time management, organization, and attention to detail.
+ ISO 9001 QMS.
+ Perform Soil, Concrete and Steel Inspections/Observations from blueprints per project standards.
Physical Requirements
Included but not limited to:
+ This job may require you to work up to 12 hr. days, 5 to 6 days a week if project requires.
+ Able and willing to travel and stay for a minimum of 6 weeks at a time for a project.
+ Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions for up to 12hrs a day.
+ Must be able to wear company-provided PPE for the entire shift while onsite.
+ Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. or more at any given time throughout the day.
+ Must be able to walk on average 3 to 5 miles per day across rough terrain and/or unlevel surfaces.
+ Ability to step in and out of a 3/4-ton pickup truck several times a day.
Required Skills
+ Must have current and valid driver’s license.
+ Proficient in reading and interpreting plans and specifications and comparing with the customer or engineers’ standards.
+ Proficient in both verbal and written communication with the ability to communicate well with others at all levels of the organization.
+ Will prepare detailed reports and present in an organized, clear, and concise manner each day.
+ Observe work for conformance per the engineered drawings and document non-conformance on your daily report and report non-conforming items to the contactor performing the work.
+ Observe and document any third-party testing that is required by the client.
