    Qualifications

    High School Diploma or GED.

     

    Working knowledge of building cleaning methods, procedures and equipment; ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions; willingness to perform routine cleaning and other manual tasks requiring efficient performance of building cleaning tasks and laundry; may deliver mail, packages, and supplies or other duties as assigned; ability to get along well with others; thoroughness; dependability; honesty; initiative; ability to lift heavy items/packages; good physical condition. Does related work as required. Ability to work flexible work schedule, including weekends.

     

    Major Responsibilities and Duties

     

    1) Cleans and services offices, classrooms, corridors, lavatories, physical education area, locker rooms, shower rooms, swimming pool, computer labs, science and art rooms, and other similar spaces.

     

    2) Sweeps, dust mops, wet mops, applies floor finishes, uses a variety of manual and automatic equipment including scrubbers, extractors, vacuums, and burnishes.

     

    3) Dusts furniture and all room equipment and structural surfaces using appropriate techniques.

     

    4) Washes inside glass in assigned area including doors, side lights, showcases and related glass surfaces. Cleans sills and frames at the same time.

     

    5) Maintains adequate supplies of paper towels, toilet tissue, soap and any other dispensed products in all areas where dispensers are provided.

     

    6) Empties trash and garbage, sorts and empties recyclables.

     

    7) May perform a variety of related tasks or routine duties such as assisting food services, setting up for various functions, shoveling snow and treating icy surfaces, raising or lowering the flag, collecting and distributing mail and parcels, bring supplies from stock to various places, making deliveries, unlocking and locking the building or rooms, cleaning up after ill persons.

     

    8) May assist maintenance personnel on a seasonal basis as a helper.
