Responsibilities
Charter House's mission is to provide the best care through practice, education, and research. The Infection Preventionist/Quality Assurance (IP/QA) nurse collaborates with leadership to develop and implement the Infection Prevention and Control and Quality Improvement programs. The IP/QA is responsible for activities to reduce the risk of infection transmission and serves as a leader, educator, and consultant in infection prevention and quality assurance best practices. The IP/QA nurse is responsible for monitoring and managing quality measures and indicators, planning and evaluating educational and clinical training programs, and developing policies for risk management systems to protect residents, visitors, and employees. Computer hardware, appropriate software utilization, and critical thinking must be incorporated into daily job functions. A successful IP/QA will be able to work both autonomously and as a team member; demonstrate basic knowledge and advance their education, knowledge, and skills; keep current with best practices through evidence-based research, regulations, consensus, and guidelines; set priorities, manage workload, and meet deadlines; communicate effectively and build partnerships with a wide variety of healthcare workers; and effectively lead teams, committees, and workgroups. Works flexible hours, which primarily are days, but may require an occasional evening, night, or weekend
Qualifications
Graduate of a baccalaureate Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited nursing program. If graduated from a nursing program that was not accredited by ACEN or CCNE, at least one year of RN experience (within the last five years) in an applicable care setting is required.Minimum of three years clinical experience in healthcare preferred. Experience with infection prevention and quality assurance preferred. CIC, certification in infection prevention and control and health etiology preferred. The IP/QA nurse must be able to work independently. Strong problem solving skills are necessary with the ability to collect, analyze and prioritize information to be used in the development and implementation of infection prevention and quality improvement programs. Ability to develop effective working relationships throughout the organization. Demonstrated computer literacy with strong knowledge of software applications. Experience in training or teaching others. Strong project leadership, organizational and planning skills. Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral). Works flexible hours, which primarily are days, but may require an occasional evening, night, or weekend. MN Registered Nurse license; Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification (must come from one of the following providers: American Heart Association, Red Cross, or Military Training Network).
Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate nursing program with successful experience as a Registered Nurse and at least one year of RN experience in long term care. Master's in nursing, public health preferred. Experience with infection prevention and quality assurance preferred. Current board certification in Infection Control is preferred. Willingness to complete a basic infection prevention and control training course within the first six months of entering the role. MN Registered Nurse license; Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification (must come from one of the following providers: American Heart Association, Red Cross, or Military Training Network). Certification in Infection Control (CIC) will be required within three years from hire if not previously certified. Expected to maintain CIC once achieved.
