    Responsibilities

    The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN is seeking two Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) roles to support our surgical practice. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology provides care to a rich patient mix involving regional, national, and international patients. All Ob/Gyn subspecialties are represented in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The department also supports 20 residents and 18 fellows through six ACGME/ABOG accredited training programs. OB/GYN is a dynamic surgical practice renowned for excellence, innovation and performing complex procedures. NP/PAs are valued members within our team and teamwork is essential to meeting the needs of the patients for whom we provide care.

     

    The NP/PA will be involved in educating junior staff and learners. This position will include assisting in the operating room, seeing patients in clinic, helping to manage team in baskets, and assisting with other areas of patient care as determined by the surgical team. The amount of time in the operating room versus outpatient will vary depending on need.

     

    The NP/PA role is a licensed and skilled member of the health care team who, in collaboration with a licensed physician, practices medicine in a variety of settings, performing many of the tasks traditionally carried out by a physician. Provision of care may include, but is not limited to, performing comprehensive patient assessments and physical examinations, developing a differential diagnosis, ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, and prescribing pharmacological agents and treatments. The NP/PA may also administer non-pharmacological therapies, perform procedures, and assist in surgery. The NP/PA will be involved in patient and family education of disease management and treatments and may also be involved in research or educational activities.

    Qualifications

    **Nurse Practitioner:** Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current MN RN and APRN license and certification as an FNP, ACNP, or ANP.

    **Physician Assistant:** Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the MN State Board of Medical Practice.

     

    BLS & DEA registration is required.

    Additional Qualifications:

    First Assistant certification for Nurse Practitioners is preferred prior to job acceptance if not currently certified.
