    Jana Chapman with Robert Half Finance & Accounting is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join a reputable non-profit in the Portland area. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for managing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and improving processes to support the organization’s goals. This role involves collaborating with various teams to enhance efficiency and deliver accurate financial insights.

    Responsibilities

    • Oversee and maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts to ensure financial data accuracy and completeness.

    • Perform month-end bank reconciliations and record investment activities.

    • Reconcile payroll-related balance sheet accounts and review payroll entries for accuracy.

    • Develop and generate custom financial reports, including ad hoc analyses as needed.

    • Support budgeting and forecasting efforts by providing detailed financial insights and analysis.

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address financial reporting needs and streamline processes.

    • Ensure compliance with federal and state labor laws, as well as organizational policies related to payroll and accounting.

    • Assist with external audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.

    • Review and import financial activity from third-party administrators for affiliated trusts.

    • Identify and implement opportunities for improving accounting processes and operational efficiency.

    • Prepare financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.

    • Provide training and guidance on payroll procedures and serve as a backup for resolving payroll-related inquiries.

    • Maintain compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and assist with grant-specific financial disclosures.

     

    This position is primarily remote, but qualified candidates must be located in the greater-Portland area.     Requirements

    Requirements:

    + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

    + Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.

    + Proficiency in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations.

    + Experience managing contracts and overseeing asset allocation processes.

    + Ability to work with and manage accounting for multiple entities.

    + At least 3 years of experience with ERPs such as NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP.

    + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.

    + Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

    + Proven ability to meet deadlines in an autonomous-remote environment

    + CPA certification or equivalent is preferred but not required.
