Overview
The Inventory Controller is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of inventory within the company, ensuring accurate and timely records, optimizing stock levels, and minimizing inventory-related costs. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
+ Inventory Management:
+ Maintain accurate inventory records across all locations, including raw materials, internal assemblies, and consumables.
+ Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventories to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
+ Develops employee awareness and competencies relating to cycle counting, inventory control and contingency planning.
+ Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, including shortages, overages, and damages.
+ Implement and maintain inventory control procedures and best practices to minimize losses and improve efficiency.
+ Analyze inventory levels and trends to identify areas for improvement and optimize stock levels.
+ Develop and implement inventory forecasting and planning strategies to meet demand and minimize stockouts.
+ Order Fulfillment:
+ Coordinate with the procurement department as needed to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
+ Monitor inventory levels to ensure sufficient stock to meet customer demand and production schedules.
+ Collaborate with production and sales teams to ensure smooth inventory flow and timely delivery.
+ Data Analysis and Reporting:
+ Generate and analyze inventory reports.
+ Prepare and present reports to management on inventory performance and key metrics.
+ Identify and analyze trends and patterns in inventory data to inform decision-making.
+ System Maintenance:
+ Maintain and update inventory management systems with accurate and timely data.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve system issues related to inventory management.
+ Assist in the implementation and integration of new inventory management technologies.
+ Continuous Improvement:
+ Continuously evaluate and propose potential improvements to inventory control processes and procedures.
+ Identify and implement cost-saving measures related to inventory management.
+ Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies in inventory management.
Qualifications
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
+ 5 years of experience in inventory control or a related field.
Qualification Requirements:
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
+ Excellent data analysis and reporting skills
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other inventory management software
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills
+ Detail-oriented and organized
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team
+ Experience with ERP and/or WMS systems preferred
Physical Requirements:
+ Sitting for extended periods, utilizes close visual acuity for working with computers, etc.
+ Works under general office environmental conditions
+ Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to grasp, carry, feel or touch; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear
+ This position is a hybrid position, which requires regular on-site visits, up to 2-3 times per week
+ Must reside within a reasonable distance, within a 1 hour radius via car, of Cook Medical in Bloomington, Indiana
