Job Description:

The Chadds Ford, PA office is seeking an entry level Tunnel Engineer with a background in civil, geotechnical, and/or structural engineering, to support our growing Tunnel Business Unit. We are looking for a motivated candidate with attention to detail, a passion to continue to develop as a professional, and a desire to be part of a strong team. Candidates will support design, investigation, and construction management of tunnel engineering projects.

Job Responsibilities:

+ Apply professional principles, complex numerical models, and innovative solutions to real-world problems as part of a team of engineers and scientists while under the supervision of senior engineering personnel.

+ Assist in the preparation of CAD drawings for contract documents and reports with input and guidance from senior engineers in accordance with internal drafting procedures and guidelines.

+ Perform structural and geotechnical design calculations for tunnels and underground structures including tunnels, shafts, excavation support, and other underground facilities.

+ Ability to travel and work in the field is required, including assignments that may last several months away from the office. Field work may include tunnel inspections, construction observation, material testing, and geotechnical investigation.

Required Skills/Experience:

+ Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited school of engineering (Master’s Degree preferred).

+ Candidate shall have 0-5 years of related professional experience.

+ Successful completion of the EIT.

+ Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

+ Familiarity with AutoCAD is required. Familiarity with MathCAD, STAAD, SAP, RISA, RSA, GeoStudio, Plaxis, FLAC, and Revit software are pluses, but not required. These programs are used extensively, so a willingness and ability to learn them is a must.

+ Periodic travel for projects, conferences, meetings, and other responsibilities is required and anticipated to be up to 20%

+ Ability to work on active or potential construction sites including site work that may involve work in underground spaces, above slopes and shafts, over rough terrain, and in remote locations.

Other Requirements:

+ Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check.

+ Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

The compensation range for this position is between $57,200 to $86,000. Compensation for this position may vary based on geographic location and other factors. We remain committed to providing competitive and equitable compensation to all employees, regardless of their location.
