    FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

    The Media Arts A.S. degree program at Kingsborough Community college (KCC), in the Department of Communications and Performing Arts, invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position beginning in Fall 2025. Our Associate degree in Media Arts prepares students for entry-level opportunities in film, television, radio, and related media fields, as well as seamless transfer to four-year programs.

     

    We seek and enthusiastic educator dedicated to excellence in teaching and capable of mentoring a diverse student population. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in _television studio production,_ including multi-camera directing, control room operations, and studio-based workflows. This position also involves teaching foundational and advanced courses in mass communication, single-camera/remote production, and media post-production technologies.

    Responsibilities include:

    + Teaching introductory and advanced courses with a principal focus on _television studio production_ and broadcast technologies

    + Providing hands on-instruction in multi-camera directing, control room operations, lighting setups, and studio-based production environments

    + Collaborating with departmental colleagues to develop and implement curricular updates in response to evolving industry standards

    + Participating in departmental service activities, such as committee work, student advising, and community outreach

    + Maintaining an on-campus presence for classroom instruction, demonstrations, and equipment setup

     

    Performs teaching and related faculty functions in area(s) of expertise.

     

    Lecturer appointments lead to a Certificate of Continuous Employment (CCE) after five years of full-time service, contingent upon successful reappointment and performance reviews.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Required Qualifications:

    + A Bachelor's degree in media, communications, broadcast technology, television production, or a closely related field

    + Demonstrated expertise in _television studio production_ , including hands-on experience with control room systems, multi-camera setups, and the production process from preproduction to broadcast

    + Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to guide and mentor a diverse student body in both classroom and lab settings

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant discipline (e.g., Media Production, Film, Broadcast Journalism, Communication Studies)

    + Previous teaching experience at the collegiate level, including lab-based instruction and broadcast/television-specific coursework

    + Professional/industry experience in film, radio, or television production

    + Proficiency wiht media-related software and hardware (e.g.,Avid Media Composer, Chyron PRIME, or other broadcast platforms

    + Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (eg., Brightspace) and Microsoft Office 365

    COMPENSATION

    $69,983 - $79,170. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

     

    CUNY offers faculty a competitive compensation and benefits package covering health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs. We also provide mentoring and support for research, scholarship, and publication as part of our commitment to ongoing faculty professional development.

     

    CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will increase by approximately 9.54% with an additional increase of 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
