    What you need to know

     

    Salary: $45,000/annually

     

    Cover Letter & Resume: A cover letter and resume are strongly recommended

     

    Travel and Schedule: Extensive travel required in assigned recruiting territory. Evenings and weekend work required.

    Qualifications

    Required Education and Experience:

    + Bachelor’s degree

    + Two years of related experience in student services, admissions, recruitment, or financial aid

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + A driver's license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment

    + Master’s degree

    + Bilingual in Spanish

    + More than two years of professional experience in higher education admissions, recruitment, student advising, student financial aid or student services related position

    + Professional experience in higher education

    + Professional experience within TAMUS

    + Customer service experience, particularly within higher education

    + Working experience in admissions, recruitment, or financial aid

    + Experience in giving presentations to large groups

    + Experience in producing reports of the analysis and evaluation of activities

    + Participation in Texas Association for College Admission Counseling (TACAC) or Texas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (TACRAO) programs or other professional organizations related to admissions, recruitment, student advising, student financial aid or student services

    + Demonstrated knowledge of basic project management and organizational practices

    + Demonstrated knowledge of principles, practice and methods of admissions, marketing and enrollment

    + General knowledge of higher education institution general academic requirements and admission policies

    + Proficiency in related student information systems such as Banner, AIS, Howdy, MOSES, SLATE, or TAMUDocs.

    + Ability to design, develop, conduct, and assess effective programs

    + Ability to organize and prioritize work activities

    + Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

    + Ability to develop and conduct group presentations for various audiences

    + Ability to work in an environment subject to regular interruptions, multi-tasking and re-prioritizing potentially conflicting assignments

    + Familiarity with the assigned territory as it relates to university admissions and recruitment

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    + Knowledge of financial aid programs and federal regulations relating to student financial aid

    + Ability to work well with students and parents

    + Must be literate in the English language and able to comprehend and follow both written and verbal instructions

    Responsibilities

    Recruitment:

    + Identifies, recruits, and contributes to increasing the population of admitted and enrolled underserved students in designated high schools and regions

    + Works directly with prospective students and parents through the entire admissions, scholarship, and financial aid application process; follows up on specific questions; troubleshoots any issues

    + Coordinates with high school counselors to facilitate the admissions, financial aid, and scholarship application process; implements recruitment activities such as trips to Texas A&M in College Station, presentations, resource tables, application workshops and designated area projects

    + Organizes, implements, and reports on programs/projects including marketing, accommodations, itineraries, meals, speakers, and records

    + Travel to high schools for visits, presentations, college job fairs, etc.

    + Distributes admissions information through participation in TACRAO programs, high school and community college visits, special programs, and other assigned appointments

    + Collaborates with outside organizations and constituent groups to involve their recruitment activities

    Matriculation:

    + Coordinates with high school counselors to facilitate next steps for students who have been admitted

    + Distributes information to counselors, parents, and students on matriculation topics such as pathways to admission, housing, New Student Conference (NSC), extended orientation, involvement, and Texas A&M-College Station campus resources

    + Uses professional judgment in advising and assisting students in solving their financial problems through scholarships, loans, grants, employment, and financial counseling; makes presentations to groups regarding financial aid and scholarship programs

    + Works with the Financial Aid Office with regard to awarding and adjusting financial aid awards as necessary to conform to federal, state and institutional policies and regulations

    Customer Service:

    + Interacts with high school faculty, administration, and staff to provide and exchange information and to enhance the counseling and advisement of students considering/planning on attending Texas A&M

    + Develops, implements, and manages recruitment and financial aid early awareness programs for Service assigned areas

    + Conducts presentations and works at resource tables as requested

    + Establishes community contacts in select areas in market or region. Develops working relationships with University agencies, departments, counselors and advisors to enhance customer service and satisfaction

    + Assists with developing and revising admissions and financial aid consumer information materials, publications and brochures for currently enrolled students, prospective students, and their parents, as well as for college, department, and university use

    Leadership:

    + Serves as a mentor and assists in the training of subordinate advisors regarding admissions and financial aid rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, as well as how to develop and maintain relationships in high schools and community agencies

    + Assumes leadership roles in local, state and regional professional associations and committees

    The Office of Undergraduate Recruitment handles freshman, transfer, international, and other prospective students who wish to apply to Texas A&M University. The office is also responsible for recruiting and enrollment an academically prepared student body geographically and economically varied. In addition, Undergraduate Recruitment also offers several opportunities for prospective students and their families to visit campus throughout the year to learn about the rich traditions and culture of Texas A&M University.
