Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team. In this long-term contract to hire role, you will play a vital part in ensuring payroll operations are accurate, compliant, and efficient, while supporting employee satisfaction and organizational goals. Responsibilities:
• Process bi-weekly payroll for a multi-state workforce, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Review and approve payroll data, including timekeeping records, bonuses, commissions, and adjustments.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations, implementing necessary updates as required.
• Maintain and update payroll records and employee information within the payroll system.
• Conduct audits of payroll procedures and records to ensure accuracy and adherence to regulations.
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, and Legal teams to resolve payroll issues and provide strategic recommendations.
• Prepare and deliver payroll reports, audit documentation, and analysis to management and external auditors.
• Manage payroll systems to ensure they are optimized for efficiency and updated regularly.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance payroll operations.
• Provide backup support for other payroll roles as needed.
Requirements • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in payroll administration or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience managing payroll processes, preferably for large organizations.
• Proficiency with payroll software, such as UKG Pro, and advanced Excel skills.
• Expertise in handling multi-state payroll and full-cycle payroll for over 500 employees.
• Strong knowledge of 401k or RRSP administration and payroll auditing practices.
• Exceptional analytical and organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while meeting deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities and a strategic mindset.
