    The Materials Planner – Level 1 at Nomad GCS supports the timely processing and tracking of material requirements to ensure on-time delivery and consistent material flow for production. This role collaborates closely with, Purchasing, Production, and Engineering teams to maintain accurate material plans, address shortages, and minimize disruptions to the production schedule. Responsibilities include data entry and updates in the ERP system, reviewing Bill of Materials for gaps, assisting with inventory reconciliation, and communicating delivery schedules with suppliers. The position requires strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, along with proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft programs. A high school diploma or GED is required, with a preference for candidates who have a bachelor’s degree and at least two years of experience in material planning or scheduling.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITY:

    • Support the timely processing of new material requirements by entering and updating data within the ERP system.

    • Collaborate with Purchasing staff to track and follow up on open orders and new requirements, ensuring on-time delivery.

    • Assist in maintaining the consistent flow of materials and components to meet production schedules and maintain safety stock levels.

    • Help keep the material plan current by updating it in real-time based on demand changes and system inputs.

    • Compare volume requirements against Bill of Materials (BOMs) to identify gaps or potential shortages.

    • Conduct follow-up on material shortages impacting production and escalate issues as needed.

    • Utilize ERP-generated reports to help create and maintain tracking tools (e.g., spreadsheets or dashboards) to monitor material flow.

    • Support inventory data accuracy by reviewing BOM integrity and assisting with reconciliation of discrepancies.

    • Coordinate with internal departments (such as production, engineering, and procurement) to help ensure materials are available when needed, minimizing disruptions.

    • Assist in generating and updating material delivery schedules and communicating them to relevant suppliers as directed.

    • Participate in supplier assessments and data gathering to support sourcing activities in collaboration with the purchasing team.

    • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams and external partners, both verbally and in writing, to support smooth planning operations.

    • Collect and analyze basic data to support the Material Planner’s decision-making processes.

    • Perform additional tasks and administrative duties as assigned to support planning and materials management functions.

    BASIC KNOWLEDGE DESIRED:

    • Be a good communicator with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally and externally.

    • Be results-oriented and organized with the ability to plan and deliver against deadlines.

    • Have strong analytical, planning, problem-solving skills, and excellent attention to detail.

    • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

    • Demonstrate understanding and application of Nomad Core Values.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Regular use of hands and arms to manipulate, handle, feel, reach, or operate objects, tools, or controls. Ability to stand and sit for extended periods as required by task assignment.

    • Frequent standing, walking, and sitting throughout the day. Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

    • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Assistance required for anything heavier than 50 pounds.

    • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus and distinguish colors, necessary for both office tasks and production work.

    • Must have the physical stamina to adapt to varying workload demands and stand or sit for prolonged periods depending on the specific tasks of the day.

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

    • Work is split between a partially environmentally controlled indoor manufacturing area and a professional office setting. Temperatures in the manufacturing area can fluctuate between 60°F and 100°F, typically maintained around 70°F in the office.

    • Exposure to varying noise levels from moderate in the office to loud on the production floor; safety hearing devices provided as needed.

    • Possible exposure to household and commercial chemicals with adherence to safety protocols outlined in Safety Data Sheets (SDS) required. Safety glasses and closed-toed shoes are mandatory when on the production floor.

    • Regular interaction with team members, guests, and clients in a professional setting. Everyday workwear must be business casual/smart casual and appropriate for the office environment.

    • Use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators or protective coveralls may be necessary for specific tasks on the production floor.

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

    • High school graduate or GED required.

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred

    • Minimum 2 years of experience in material planning, forecasting or scheduling preferred

    • Strong computer skills, proficient with Excel and other Microsoft Programs.
