    Job Title: Forklift Operator

    Job Description

    You will spend 50% of your day operating sit-down forklifts to move goods around the warehouse, ensuring efficient and safe handling of materials. The other 50% of your time will be spent performing general warehouse duties.

    Responsibilities

    + Operate sit-down forklifts to move goods around the warehouse.

    + Unload and load trucks both manually and using forklifts, ensuring that all items are handled with care to prevent damage.

    + Prepare freight for shipment by packaging items securely, ensuring all packages are labeled correctly and ready for transport.

    + Use shrink-wrap to secure pallets, ensuring all items are stable and protected during transit.

    + Split cases from pallets as required, making sure items are correctly sorted and stored in their designated locations.

    + Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment, ensuring all areas are free of debris and hazards.

    + Repackage orders as needed to meet customer specifications, ensuring all items are packed securely for safe transport.

    + Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and reporting any safety concerns to management.

    Essential Skills

    + Forklift operation (sit-down)

    + Material handling

    + General labor

    + 3-5 years of warehouse/forklift experience

    + Ability to lift 50+ pounds by hand

    + Heavy lifting

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience with warehouse distribution

    + Attention to detail in loading and unloading tasks

    You must be comfortable with a non-climate controlled environment, which can be really hot in the summer and cold in the winter.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
