Job Title: 2nd Shift Machinist
Job Description
A large aerospace manufacturer in Fullerton with a diverse portfolio of products is seeking a skilled Machinist for the 2nd shift (3pm-1:30am). This role involves preparation and set-up of various machines, including 5 Axis Milling Machines on various types of alloys such as Mori Seiki 5 Axis, HAAS 4-Axis, and Mazak 4-Axis. There is potential for the right candidate to advance to a lead or supervisor role, particularly if they have conventional machining experience.
Responsibilities
+ Set up and operate conventional lathe, knee and column mill, drill press, surface grinder, and honing machines.
+ Set up and operate CNC Vertical Mills (3, 4, and 5 axis) and CNC lathes (4 axis with live tooling and sub-spindle).
+ Perform various operations in cutting and shaping metal to precise dimensions within the prescribed tolerance.
+ Select the correct speed on any machine and feed various materials according to operations designated on the route sheet.
+ Hold close tolerances with the standards of each operation outlined on the route sheet.
+ Perform first articles.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of five years of experience in operating all types of lathes, mills, drill presses, and numeric controlled machines.
+ Thorough understanding of setting tool offsets and live tooling (milling cutters).
+ Knowledge of setting up CNC lathe/mill operations for use with ferrous, bar, and extrusion in various alloys.
+ Strong knowledge of calipers, micrometers, height gauge, and various other measuring instruments.
+ Ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering data.
+ Ability to edit programs (G&M codes).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with CNC Machining (5 Axis Milling Machines).
+ Experience with various types of alloys.
+ Experience with Mori Seiki 5 Axis, HAAS 4-Axis, and Mazak 4-Axis.
+ Blueprint reading and interpretation.
+ Lead/Manager experience (a plus).
+ Programming skills.

Work Environment
The work environment includes a large machine shop with various CNC lathes and mills, as well as conventional machines. The position is for the 2nd shift, with start times between 3:00pm to 4:00pm, and flexibility for 8-hour shifts. The work is performed in a structured setting with a focus on precision and quality.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fullerton, California.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.
