Located in Bethpage, St. Joseph Hospital that provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient medical, critical care and surgical services. Its Emergency Department cares for approximately 33,000 patients a year. Other vital services include an Ambulatory Surgery Unit, The Center for Sleep Medicine, Hyperbaric and Wound Healing Center, CHS Cancer Center, The Center for Speech and Swallowing Disorders, Diabetes Education Center and a full scope of outpatient radiology services, including Cardiac CT. Job Details Responsibilities: Responsible for insurance verification and ensures all required pre-certifications/authorizations are on file per Managed Care guidelines. Ability to research and explain patient's financial responsibility payable at time of service, then discuss payment and/or options, in person or via telephone. Also responsible for financial counseling by screening self-pay patients, insurance follow-up, accepting patient payments, posting payments, preparing bank deposits, scanning relevant documentation into the Hospital Information Systems as well as performing other clerical/cashier functions as assigned. Qualifications: Previous medical insurance background as well as medical terminology preferred. Excellence in Customer Service, interview and data accumulation skills. Proficient computer/keyboard and internet skills are required. Ability to navigate from one software system to another efficiently. High School diploma or equivalent required some college or equivalent education desirable. Salary Range USD $26.47 - USD $26.47 /Hr. The salary range or rate listed does not include any differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
